A Letter from our Admissions Director

I have been involved with Melvin J. and Claire Levine Jewish Residential & Family Service for many years, initially as a volunteer, and since 2010, as Director of Admissions. LJRFS is a partner agency of Alpert Jewish Family and Children’s Service, a vibrant organization, that for more than 40 years, has been providing a variety of services provided by social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists. I appreciate the opportunity to assist families who come to this agency concerned about the future of their family member or loved one with special needs and to work with that family as we weave our way to a positive outcome.

Families learn about LJRFS many ways including the internet and professional referrals but most importantly by word of mouth. We have many heartwarming success stories. Our program plans are developed for each individual so that at their own speed, the men and women in our “family” are developing self-confidence, independence, life skills and are becoming involved in the community at large.  Many of our men and women are able to obtain jobs or volunteer positions in Palm Beach County thanks to our vocational preparation programs.  They are able to become more independent and responsible and develop skills that many times they didn’t know were achievable.

It’s always a pleasure to share the LJRFS experience with those who are looking to enhance the lives of  their loved ones with special needs.  Making a life decision for and with a loved one is not easy.  When you enroll your loved one at LJRFS you can rest assured that your family member will have a home, a family, a place to belong with stability and structure, and a rewarding and fulfilled life.

I look forward to meeting potential new residents and their family members so that I may better share the experience and help guide the decision making process.

Sincerely,

Andrea Cohan
